Summary from Comixology: Things are spinning out of control for the Outlaws when Roy realizes that he’s the only member of the team not abusing drugs!
Sometime ago, I came up with the idea of jumping into a comic book series, in which I have never read, and try to figure out what is going on. For some reason we haven’t done this in a while, maybe it’s because I don’t like having random copies of comics in my collection, but this is when digital comics are nice. And I have got to say, while reading this book I kept asking myself a serious question… What in the hell is going on? And to be completely honest, I have no clue.
Overview:
My first thoughts were “I like Batman so lets read a bat title..” It was between this book and Batwoman. I decided to go with Red Hood because I honestly have never read an issue from this series. Maybe it’s because I don’t care for Jason as a character? Maybe it’s because I’m not a Lobdell fan, or maybe it’s because I’ve got no desire to read Red Hood and The Outlaws. Who knows? When it mentioned characters using drugs, it perked my interest. There wasn’t much drug use, except for Starfire using heroin. (Or was it space heroin? I’m pretty sure it was just good ol’ regular heroin.)
The Good:
I’m not really sure there was anything in this issue that I enjoyed. It seemed really messy and chaotic. I couldn’t really find any order in the sequence of events that took place in the issue. At one time they are on some island commune of some intergalactic slave trader, and the next they are in New Orleans or on same weird spaceship city thing in the woods? I just had no clue what was going on…?
The Bad:
I know I jumped into a series in the middle of some story arc, so I really shouldn’t be complaining about being lost. But it would have been nice if there was a recap page or something I could use to figure out the mess that was Red Hood and The Outlaws. I also was not too fond of the art in this book. If you have been frequenting our site, you should know I’m a bit of a “feminist” or as I prefer, and “Equalist,” and I felt like on many occasions Starfire was drawn way too sexually with her large breasts taking up the majority of a panel.
The Final Say:
This is where we get the title of this series, after reading this, I kept asking “What in the hell is going on?”. I really got to say, this was a 1 out of 4. Sure I had no clue what was happening, but it wasn’t even possible to figure out what was happening. If you have read this series, or know what is happening, please leave a comment and let us know what is going on.
