Book: Uncanny X-Men #25
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Chris Bachalo
Summary from Comixology: Xavier’s greatest secret has been revealed! Against such overwhelming power, will the X-Men succeed in holding the line? Or will Xavier’s final “gift” to his children be their undoing?
Overview:
Most people have been super excited for Original Sin and all the crossovers that took place during the event, I on the other hand am not the biggest fan of events, but I have been really excited for The Last Living Will of Charles Xavier, which is the X-Men Original Sin subplot. Now, it wasn’t as awesome as I had planned out in my head (I came up with a pertty kick ass fan theory I’ll explain later) but it was still a really great story.
The Good:
Scott Summers is my boy. I’ve always been able to relate with him and Bobby. I’ve always been a fairly decent person (like Scott) and I have a goofy sense of humor (like Bobby). This book is a really solid story that revolves around Charles Xavier sharing his darkest secret, and it’s not being married to Mystique. That one threw me for a loop but the true secret that is revealed is a *little* more intense. I want to say how much I really enjoyed the art in this book. The times that I have picked up Uncanny X-Men I have been really impressed by the art, and the covers are equally awesome. Each month they are some of my favorite covers. My final point for the good is that She-Hulk is in the book as the lawyer of Xavier and she plays the role of the comedic relief at times and it’s very well done.
The Bad:
I don’t exactly have anything negative to say about the book, but I was not a fan of the $4.99 price, specially with Death of Wolverine coming out this week, which was also $4.99. It was just an expensive week for X-Fans. Besides the expensive cover price, the book was solid.
The Final Say:
For any fan of the X-Men, Charles Xavier, or Scott Summers you really should have this book in your collection. Some major secrets come out and you are going to want to know what they are. They just might change your opinion on Charles. Maybe Scott wasn’t wrong in killing him while overtaken by The Phoenix. Over all, I give this book a solid 3 out of 4 and my only real problem was the price. Pick this book up and let us know what you think of it in the comments below! And long live the New Mutant revolution.
(Below is my fan theory on how the Death of Wolverine should have played into this series)
