Marvel has released an official statement announcing the casting of Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Savages) and Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Silent House) as brother and sister “mutant” team of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
OFFICIAL: Elizabeth Olsen & Aaron Taylor-Johnson Join ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’
It’s been widely speculated for months now these roles would go to these respective actors, but this is our first official confirmation.
Being that the film rights to the mutant forms of the characters belong to Fox, I assure you that this WILL NOT tie into the X-Men in anyway. Not that there may not be a reference or two, but there’s just a most microscopic of chances that this will tie at some point to the X-Men. In fact, the new X-Men movie, Days of Future Past, will actually feature it’s own MUTANT version of Quicksilver, played by American Horror Story’s Evan Peters.
Marvel Studios man-in-charge, Kevin Feige and director Joss Whedon have already promised that this take on the characters would be different than anything we could expect. So that’s somewhat promising I think.
What do you guys think? Are you excited about this casting, or is the Avengers sequel cast getting to big to hold all those egos on one screen?
