Overview:
I’ll be honest, I just picked this book up because it was a number 1 and had Remender’s name on it. I knew nothing about this book and I honestly still don’t know what I just read. But it was awesome. In a lot of peoples minds, Remender can do no wrong, (except those twitter and tumblr idiots with #FireRickRemender) and this book is proof of A) how awesome Remender is as a writer, and B) How Image Comics is really becoming a strong competitor with The Big Two (DC & Marvel).
The Good:
The art in this book was absolutely amazing. I was drawn to the cover due to it reminding me of the game Bioshock, but it was so much more then that. This book left me with so many questions, and because of that I know i’ll be coming back for issue #2. Remender’s story telling is great in this book, and even with not knowing what was going on, there were many twists and turns that kept me wondering what would happen next.
The Bad:
As I said above, this leaves you with way more questions than answers, and I suppose that is done in order to make you come back for next months issue. If you like knowing whats going on in an #1, this might not be the book for you. Also, the $3.99 sticker price worried me, but the book was worth it for the 30 pages (with no adds) and the color was awesome.
The Final Say:
If you are looking for a new, confusing, book.. then I totally recommend going to pick up LOW right now. I loved being lost and the entire feel of the story. If this book continues to be as awesome as the first issue, it could vey well become a favorite Image book, and that’s saying a lot because Sex Criminals and Saga are Image books. I give this book a solid 3 out of 4 . I do not think you’ll feel any amount of disappointment if you pick this book up. If you read this issue, let us know what you think in the comment section below!
